URSI Benelux Forum 2025

The 30th URSI Benelux Forum with theme “Progressing science and society with radio waves” will be held on September 23, 2025 at the Jaarbeurs Convention Center in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The URSI Benelux Forum is offering a meeting opportunity to researchers preparing a PhD and postdoctoral researchers in the different scientific fields covered by URSI (International Union of Radio Science - Union Radioscientifique Internationale). The meeting offers them and the academic and scientific staff of universities and institutes a unique opportunity to be informed about the different research programmes in Radio Science in the Benelux. Being organised in the same venue as the European Microwave Week (EuMW), URSI Benelux Forum participants are also welcomed to the opening ceremony of the European Microwave Conference and visit the EuMW exhibition area.

YS Paper Competition

URSI has a clear intention to support Young Scientists through its YS Programme and through supporting and organising YS Paper Competitions at National or Regional events as will be the case at the Benelux Forum 2025. This year three YS Paper prizes will be awarded, €400, €200 and €100.

Structure of the meeting

The structure of the Forum will consist of Poster Sessions with contributions from all fields covered by every of the 10 URSI Commissions in addition to a plenary program around the theme Progressing science and society with radio waves highlighting radio science research in the Benelux. Being organised in the same venue as the EuMW, URSI Benelux Forum participants are also welcomed to the opening ceremony of the European Microwave Conference (EuMC) and visit the EuMW exhibition area. For the latter, Benelux Forum participants should register separately (for free) as Exhibition Visitor. The complete program then looks as follows:

Abstract submission

Prospective contributors should prepare an extended abstract of at most 1 page using the Word or LaTeX template. Please send the extended abstract in pdf format to wijnholds@astron.nl by August 11, 2025.

PhDs and PostDocs participating in the EuMW may submit an abstract on the same topic to participate in the YS Paper Competition at the URSI Benelux Forum. If this applies, please do add a reference to the paper accepted for the EuMW.

We will use electronic poster boards provided by the EuMW organizers. Instructions on the format in which the electronic posters need to be prepared will be provided in due course.

Proceedings

The proceedings of the URSI Forum will consist of a collection of the submitted abstracts and summaries and will be distributed by e-mail in pdf format to all participants and will be made freely available through the URSI website for a wider distribution in the weeks following the Forum.

Registration

A fixed registration fee for on-site participants and authors is set at € 80,- per person to cover expenses (proceedings, lunch and coffee breaks). A reduced fee of € 70,- is available for URSI Senior Members and Fellows and a reduced fee of € 30,- is available for online participation in the plenary part of the program. Registration is required before September 5, 2025.

For a valid registration, the registration fee must be received on IBAN NL47 RABO 0141 3437 29 of the St. Wet. Act. van het NUC with reference URSI Forum 2025 and your name. For this, you can also use the appropriate QR code.
